Goolum Goolum is recognised as the principal Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisation within the local Government areas of Horsham, Northern Grampians, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera, Ararat and Yarriambiack Shire Councils.

Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Co-operative’s design reflects community needs and input. It aims to provide a versatile space for customers, staff, and the broader community to engage in health and wellness programs, while efficiently delivering services that promote respect for Indigenous cultures.

The warm, neutral interior palette not only enhances aesthetics but also positively impacts the sensory experience and psychological well-being of occupants, with earthy hues providing a sense of
connection.

Ballarat Base Hospital – ED Clinical Decisions Unit

Ballarat Base Hospital - ED Clinical Decisions Unit

Morton+Co is working collaboratively with Lyons Architecture to deliver the Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment projects. As part of this redevelopment, Morton+Co recently completed the Emergency Department Clinical Decisions Unit within the live hospital environment, including both demolition and new internal fitout with specialist equipment.

The design of the emergency department (ED) was primarily guided by the ethos of functionality and rapid responsiveness. This space was designed to accommodate a high volume of patients with varying degrees of medical issues, efficiently and without delay.

The layout is strategically planned to optimise workflows, safety and accessibility, while minimising travel distances between critical areas. The design incorporated resilient materials and surfaces that are easy to clean and maintain.

Ballarat Base Hospital - Diagnostics Facility

Morton+Co is working collaboratively with Lyons Architecture to deliver the Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment projects.

As part of this redevelopment, Morton+Co recently completed the Diagnostics facility relocation within the live hospital environment, including both demolition and new internal fitout of first floor areas complete and making good of ground floor ceilings and cladding impacted by the inlay of new services.

The project involved the development of connecting corridors, arrival and administration areas, consulting offices, meeting rooms and support spaces for amenity and specialised equipment, including works within a plant room and across an external roof mounted plant platforms.

ANA Building Redevelopment

ANA Building Redevelopment

Award winning adaptive re-use and restoration of historic ANA Building in Camp Street, Ballarat.

The redevelopment of the former ANA Building, located in the Arts/Education Precinct in Camp Street, embraces the history of the ANA Building,while adding a new dimension to this significant streetscape.

The adaptive re-use of this site combines the history of Ballarat with a vision for the future of Ballarat involving the retention and restoration of the exisiting ANA Building including the re-imagined proscenium arch.

The new central glazed atrium – with its sculptural entry, links old with new and provides direct connection to vistas to the east (further accentuated by the glazed lift rising above the escarpment). While the Infill building reflects a contemporary interpretation/impression of the existing buildings in this historic streetscape.

These elements combined create a respectful, considered, contextual and contribution to the Camp Street Precinct.

Ballarat Hospice Care is a purpose-built palliative care hub to meet the increasing demand for specialist, community-based palliative care and bereavement support.

This vital community facility provides specialist, high-quality palliative care, as well as holistic health care and support for people living with a life-limiting illness while supporting carers, family and friends involved in their care.

The project delivered a contemporary facility with modern clinical and family counselling rooms, a multi-purpose education suite, e-health technology, secure reception, equipment storage and amenities for families and visitors.

BADAC

Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative

The Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative (BADAC) was established by members of the Ballarat and district Aboriginal community in 1979.

The staged development of the existing BADAC site in Armstrong Street North, is comprised of the significant development of this two storey medical facility along with allied health, linked to the existing structure.

The purpose-built facility was designed to create a culturally welcoming environment and provide a range of services for indigenous and non-indigenous people in Victoria’s greater Western region.

The building design and layout reflects the needs and input from community members and staff. The result is a space which is culturally sensitive and promotes understanding, respect and celebration of indigenous culture while enabling efficient service delivery.

Our Lady Star of the Sea Ocean Grove

Our Lady Star of the Sea

Morton+Co Architects recently completed the Multi-Purpose Hall and Learning Centre at Our Lady Star of the Sea located in Ocean Grove.

The multi-purpose hall provides a light filled space for sport and physical education, whole school gatherings and class activities, opening to an artificial surface basketball court via hanger doors. Four General Purpose Learning areas are located within the centre, including breakout spaces, storage facilities and amenities. These welcoming spaces provide an engaging environment for flexible learning in alignment with the pedagogical approach of the school.
